“Skipper excellent, very patient, good story teller.<br /> Repeating as necessary for understanding sailing.<br /> I did not like the luck of dedicated time to swim in beautiful beaches or spots in the islands, it could be combined the visiting nice spots at lunch time. I also would like to have marinas in nice towns, which it could be booked well in advance, Hvar town, Trogir.... Because in the evenings for dinner it's is nice to visit new places as this is also our holidays.<br /> Cooking for breakfast, lunch cooking could be avoided, simple cereals, cakes, fruit for lunch, ans sandwiches, salad and fruit for lunch is enough. I don't like to cook inside for a lot of people and less to do the washing with 1000 pots when on holidays.<br /> Otherwise the practical course is fantastic, only not to waste time reviewing theory when we already passed theory test for this.”
“My only suggestion would be to create a study guide for comp crew to reference during the course. The more advance students had study materials but I had more down time but no study materials.”

“I've had an awesome week aboard and I will definately recommend the company to interested friends. The only feedback I have is about the sign up process:<br /> <br /> During signing up I had some doubt about legitemacy of the company. I could't find many reviews or photo's online, which made me doubt. I actually checked the RYA website to see if the company was legit. Some things that would have helped (could be that I missed these):<br /> <br /> - Photo of the owner(s) and/or crew <br /> - more (recent) reviews on Google<br /> - more pictured on Instagram, even generic ones of the boat when it's being (un)loaded would have helped :)<br /> <br /> Hope the feedback helps, thanks”

I can’t fault his knowledge and teaching approach. <br /> <br /> Feedback for YST - Clearer communication from school about paying for instructor’s food and drink etc. <br /> <br /> We had two people leave our boat but hadn’t settled up the kitty - they owed I think about 80 euros. This meant as a three we had to pay more for the final two days than expected as we were missing their kitty money. This felt unfair. Much clearer communication from school on website about the kitty and its uses, what we will have to pay for on top of the course price re fuel/marinas (as this was a surprise) and expectations to all around cooking on board/going out - for those who want to budget for example as there can be a split between who can afford to go out for meals. I feel this is the schools responsibility on the website not the instructors’.”

“- Skipper was very knowledgeable, patient and thorough.<br /> - Advice: to leave earlier in the morning, as we never left before 11 am (except for the last day). Here the skipper should be more strict on not spending too much cooking for breakfast as lots of time was wasted on this.<br /> - Advice: to spend more time anchored in some bays for leisure time, this happened only twice in five days.<br /> - One particular crew member NEVER cooked or washed the dishes in the whole course duration; the skipper should be more attentive and maybe put down a rotation for cooking/washing up, as others might not feel like speaking up as it could be embarrassing. The same crew member cheated regarding the kitty money as he asked for more money than he spent; when receipts were requested, they showed that he bought personal items but still requested the kitty money to pay for this. This is nobody’s fault as dishonest people are unfortunately everywhere, but maybe a final briefing with a recap of all the shared expenses by the skipper would be appreciated.”

“The only feedback Crawford and I have is regarding some of the equipment on board. The ferry lines available on board were quite large and heavy, making it difficult to maneuver on a smaller yacht. Another thing we noticed is that the mainsail frequently jammed while furling and unfurling. We were told it was an older sail, so a newer one might be beneficial for students because it was quite taxing to try to unfurl. <br /> <br /> Other than those things we noticed. The experience was fantastic and we had a wonderful time during the course. Thank you!”

“First day took too long to leave. Could have been pushed to move on the days earlier, spent a lot of time in port vs sailing. Jakov was incredible instructor and made it very easy to learn in a very practical way! Very enjoyable. Sleeping with snoring bunk mate almost destroyed the trip overall!”

“Frank is an awesome instructor, especially when it comes to patience! One suggestion I would make for him is to say the students name before giving the direction. Often there were times of confusion amongst the students because the instruction was given first, followed by the name of the student. If a couple of us are handling different lines at the same time, things can get confusing. <br /> <br /> Secondly, there were certain instances where Frank would tell us what to do or where to be but training for that task wasn’t given beforehand. Example: one of our students was asked to grab the mooring line with the boat hook and tie off the bow - this was not taught before the direction was given.”

“Yacht Sail Training RYA School provided the best service and first-class fully equipped, very clean boat with all you could need on board. I found them to be very helpful and flexible at every stage of the sailing course. During the course, our crew stayed and lived on board in the presence of the very professional skipper-instructor. We simulated real situations that may occur during the stay on board, had a lot of fun and laughter. Now I can tie a Bowline in my sleep! The sailing became more understandable for me and awakened the wish of going further with it. We visited not only the famous Croatian destinations but also peeked into less-known spots of the Croatian coast and were amazed about the Beaty of the different islands. It was never boring, we had always something to do: learned, sailed, played some games, swam in the sea, cooked some delicious food or had dinner at the restaurants. A couple of times on our route we’ve seen the dolphins very close to our boat. The night navigation was a special adventure and something very new, beautiful and fun. The whole 5 days were filled with joy and the feeling of the strong and warmhearted community. Thank you very much! I highly recommend Yacht Sail Training RYA School and their courses!!!”
“1 more towel per person. Very generous with food, water drinks and docking. Maybe some gloves for lines and ropes. Boat could have a little tlc regarding hinges, nav calibration, more zoomed in teaching charts. Instructor was absolutely amazing!”

“Mostly perfect, lovely sailing, great boat, instructor was really good and answered every question with great depth, and amazing destinations. Only comments would be restricted access to toilets and showers in most marinas as the close before 10:00-10:30 pm and don’t open again until 6:00 am. Other thing is the fact that the GPS and autopilot don’t work, as well as the speed gauges beside the helm stations, making it a bit harder to practice and understand the full functionality of such systems. Other than that amazing course.”

“Overall I enjoyed the course. I think it might be helpful to have a schedule of sorts or discuss the plan for the day the evening before. We had two quite young and seemingly disinterested guys on the course and felt like we did a lot of waiting around for and catering to them. A schedule may have helped them sort themselves out or the rest of us get on with it without them. Understand wasn’t the easiest situation for Marcus either but was a bit frustrating as a course member. The course and Marcus did teach me about sailing though and curious to learn more”
