“Overall I enjoyed the course. I think it might be helpful to have a schedule of sorts or discuss the plan for the day the evening before. We had two quite young and seemingly disinterested guys on the course and felt like we did a lot of waiting around for and catering to them. A schedule may have helped them sort themselves out or the rest of us get on with it without them. Understand wasn’t the easiest situation for Marcus either but was a bit frustrating as a course member. The course and Marcus did teach me about sailing though and curious to learn more”

Lots of sea stories, singing sea shanties and interesting facts in between briefs, learning and practising new skills. He is clearly very experienced and we felt safe and confident even when the wind picked up !”

“My only suggestion would be to create a study guide for comp crew to reference during the course. The more advance students had study materials but I had more down time but no study materials.”

“The only feedback Crawford and I have is regarding some of the equipment on board. The ferry lines available on board were quite large and heavy, making it difficult to maneuver on a smaller yacht. Another thing we noticed is that the mainsail frequently jammed while furling and unfurling. We were told it was an older sail, so a newer one might be beneficial for students because it was quite taxing to try to unfurl. <br /> <br /> Other than those things we noticed. The experience was fantastic and we had a wonderful time during the course. Thank you!”

“Stefan really was a fantastic instructor this week. I can’t fault his knowledge and teaching approach. <br /> <br /> Feedback for YST - Clearer communication from school about paying for instructor’s food and drink etc. <br /> <br /> We had two people leave our boat but hadn’t settled up the kitty - they owed I think about 80 euros. This meant as a three we had to pay more for the final two days than expected as we were missing their kitty money. This felt unfair. Much clearer communication from school on website about the kitty and its uses, what we will have to pay for on top of the course price re fuel/marinas (as this was a surprise) and expectations to all around cooking on board/going out - for those who want to budget for example as there can be a split between who can afford to go out for meals. I feel this is the schools responsibility on the website not the instructors’.”
